DEKALB, Ill. – The Huskie football team heads to Toledo on Wednesday for its first midweek MACtion game of the season, NIU men's and women's basketball as well as wrestling open their regular seasons this week, Huskie men's soccer closes its regular season with an important match on Wednesday, Huskie volleyball will be home on the weekend and NIU men's tennis will be represented at the ITA Conference Masters Championships, this week in NIU Athletics.

NIU football returns after a 10-day layoff between games, traveling to Toledo for a midweek game against the Rockets. The Huskies reclaimed the Bronze Stalk Trophy with a 21-7 victory over Ball State in their last game, snapping a six-game losing streak. NIU rushed for a season-high 305 yards against the Cardinals and forced three turnovers.
Toledo (4-4) is undefeated at home this season and leads the conference in both total offense and defense. Four of the last six games between NIU and Toledo have been decided by one score.

NIU men's basketball begins the regular season at home on Monday as the Huskies host ULM in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge. A full preview of Monday's contest is

The NIU volleyball team wraps up action at home as they host the Bobcats of Ohio University on November 7-8. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on November 7 with the second game starting at 4 p.m. on November 8 for Senior Day. Join Terry Bonadonna and Sam Grams, NIU '12, on the ESPN+ on November 8 as the Huskies hit the final stretch.
The Huskies went 1-2 in action last week, with their lone win coming in a reverse sweep against Buffalo. In the Huskies victory,
Ava Grevengoed her tenth double-double of the season as she led the Huskies with 15 kills.
Emma McCartney collected her fourth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs. McCartney set a new career-best in blocks with five in tonight's contest.
Savannah Gogel got her first collegiate start this evening as she recorded 13 kills, two aces, and five block assists in the match

Wednesday night is the final day of the regular season for the Huskie men's soccer team as NIU heads into its matchup with Bowling Green in a three-way tie for second in the Missouri Valley Conference. NIU has clinched a spot in the conference tournament but could be seeded anywhere from second to sixth depending upon the results of Wednesday's games.
Bowling Green comes to DeKalb two points out of the final spot in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Falcons need to beat the Huskies to keep their season alive. Kickoff on Wednesday is slated for 6 p.m.
Wrestling
Saturday, November 8: at MSU Open (East Lansing, Mich.), 8:30 a.m.
NIU wrestling returns to the mat for the first time in the 2025-26 season as they are set to compete at the Michigan State Open on November 8. Action will start at 8:30 a.m. CT with the Huskies taking on top teams from around the country.
The NIU wrestling program posted a 7-3 dual match record during the 2024-25 season and had a pair of NCAA Championship qualifiers in
Blake West and
Landen Johnson. West and
Markel Baker went undefeated last season in MAC competition.

Nikola Puntaric will represent the MAC this weekend at the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego, Calif. at the Barens Tennis Center.
Puntaric qualified for the event by winning the top singles flight of the MAC Indoor Championships on Oct. 26, the first NIU player to do so. The four singles semifinalists of the Conference Masters will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships in the spring.
