DeKalb, Ill. - This Week in Huskie Athletics Northern Illinois University will have eight teams in action. NIU baseball will take on Kentucky on Tuesday before heading to Oxford, Ohio for a weekend series with Miami. NIU softball will face South Dakota State in St. Louis, Mo. before heading home for a three-game series against Central Michigan. NIU men's golf competes at the GCU Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday. NIU women's golf will travel back to Arizona to compete in the Clover Classic Monday, March 10 through Wednesday, March 12. NIU gymnastics closes out the regular season with road trips to CMU and then Illinois on Friday and Sunday. NIU men's tennis stays home for MAC duals with Ball State and WMU on Thursday and Saturday. NIU women's tennis will have a Sunday doubleheader against MAC foe EMU and then against Wisconsin-Whitewater. NIU Track and Field will head to the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic on Friday and Saturday.

NIU Baseball takes on a ranked opponent Tuesday night in the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington, Ky., then heads to Miami for its second MAC series of the season. The Huskies took one out of three games this weekend at Kent State, winning game one of Sunday's doubleheader 14-8.
Logan Gregorio was 5-for-6 in the game with a home run and five RBI. The junior catcher was 8-for-10 in the two games Sunday with three home runs and nine RBI. Miami won two out of three in last season's series.

The Huskies wrap up early season action against the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State on March 11 in a neutral site game before opening MAC play on March 14. The Huskies will welcome Central Michigan to Mary M. Bell field for a three-game series on March 14 and 15 with the first pitch set for 3 p.m. on March 14.
Madison Mathews leads the Huskies with a batting average of .346 as
Jenna Turner is hitting .333 on the season. The duo leads the Huskies with 18 hits on the season as they are two of five Huskies that have started all games this season. In the pitcher's circle,
Hannah Bolly leads with an ERA of 1.24 while
Danielle Stewart leads NIU with 27 strikeouts.

The NIU men's golf team plays its second tournament of the spring at the GCU Invitational. The Huskies took second place at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational on Feb. 26. NIU opened the tournament with its lowest 18-hole team score of the season, a nine-under par 279. Senior
Felix Krammer tied for 12
th at four-under par. It was his third straight tournament with a 54-hole score under par.
Craig Long also finished in the top-20, tying for 17
th at three-under par 213, his lowest 54-hole score of the season.
Women's Golf

Saturday, March 15 – Sunday, March 16: at Valspar Invitational (Augusta, Ga.)
The Huskies women's golf team returns to the Grand Canyon state as they compete at Notre Dame's Clover Cup, March 10-12 at the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Huskies will play one round each day of the tournament as they compete in a field of 12 teams.
The Huskies were last in action at the GCU Invite in late February, finishing in a tie for tenth at the tournament.
Dakota Tallent led the Huskies with a top-25 finish as the Huskies collected 26 birdies and two eagles over three rounds.

The NIU gymnastics team will compete twice on the road this week. The Huskies will head to Central Michigan on Friday and to Champaign to face the University of Illinois on Sunday.
Last week the Huskies competed in their home finale on Sunday, March 9 and took down Bowling Green. Three Huskies took home first place on individual events in the meet. Eller Werner scored a 9.850 and won on beam. Mkayla Brown scored a 9.800 and won on floor and
Katie Ferguson scored a 9.800 and won on bars.
The Huskies close out the regular season this week and head back to CMU for the conference championships on Saturday, March 22.
Men's Tennis

NIU men's tennis will return to MAC play after a Sunday dual against Chicago State. Last week the Huskies fell in a close dual to UIC and then took down Chicago State 7-0. Co-Captains

Saul Berdullas both earned wins against UIC. The Huskies had two individuals
Sam Klein and
Angus Howard not drop a single game with 6-0, 6-0 wins in Sunday's 7-0 win over Chicago State.
Women's Tennis

Sunday, March 16 vs Wisconsin-Whitewater, 5 p.m. –
The NIU women's tennis team will compete in a double header against EMU and Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday. Last week the Huskies took down Marquette as they moved to 12-3 on the season with the 5-2 win.
Maria Dzemeshkevich was named the MAC player of the week for her performance in the win over Marquette. That marked the fifth time this season a Huskie has earned the MAC Singles weekly honor.
Track and Field
Friday, March 14 – Saturday, March 15: at Myrtle Beach Collegiate Classic
The Huskie women's track and field team will begin the outdoor season this weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as it competes in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. NIU is one of the nearly 40 schools scheduled to participate in the meet. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday with the javelin competition at 9 a.m. CT, track events are set for 1 p.m. CT with the prelims in the 100 meters. On Saturday, field events again start at 9 a.m. CT with the shot put and events on track are slated for 9:30 a.m. CT with the 3,000 meters.
Last time out at the MAC Indoor Championships,
Precious Umukoro was named MAC Women's Indoor Freshman Field Performer of the Year after finishing runner-up in the long jump,
Kamiya Dendy finished runner-up in the high jump.
