OXFORD, Ohio-- Despite jumping out to an early lead, the Northern Illinois University Huskies softball program (7-15, 2-2 MAC) fell to the RedHawks of Miami University (14-15, 4-0 MAC), 5-3.

The Huskies recorded 10 hits to Miami's four in the contest.

Jenna Turner (Marengo, Ill./Marengo) has recorded multiple hits in the last four games for the Huskies, scoring in each of the games.
Rylie Hartman (Kankakee, Ill./Herscher) went 2-for-2 today and had a walk on the day.

"They came out with great energy, and we prepared all week for their pitchers and offense," said NIU head coach Kathryn Gleason. "Dee Dee (
Danielle Stewart) had a great rhythm and was in control of her pitches and Rylie was fantastic behind the plate. We are focusing on what we can do, situationally, and how do we move our runners around. We have a confidence and energy each time we step onto the field and will prepare for two games tomorrow."

Hartman hit her first home run of the season to put NIU on the scoreboard in the second inning for the first hit of the game.

Turner recorded her second triple of the season before scoring on a
Lia Nance (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside) RBI single for the second run of the game in the third. The duo would lead off with back-to-back singles in the fifth as the Huskies maintained a 2-0 lead over the RedHawks.

Miami found an answer in the bottom of the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch.

Hartman scored for a second time in the sixth inning on a Turner RBI single down the right field line to lead 3-1.

Miami's Kaylee Oh hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to tie the game at three with no outs on the board. Jenna Golembiewski hit a two-run home run in the sixth as the RedHawks took their first lead of the game and held the Huskies to one hit in the final inning.

Huskies Highlights
- Danielle Stewart (Frankfort, Ill./Frankfort) started the game in the circle for the Huskies and struck out seven batters. This is the second straight game Stewart has recorded seven strikeouts.
- This is the fifth time this season the Huskies have recorded 10 hits or more.
- Hartman's home run was the second of her career.
