LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball program has been named a recipient of the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association today (July 21).
This is the tenth time in program history the Huskies have earned this honor.
Over 1,450 teams from both high school and collegiate division earned the honor this year. In order to be eligible, teams must maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. NIU posted a 3.391 GPA during the 2024-25 academic year.
The Huskies saw seven athletes earning Academic All-MAC honors in December 2024 with two Huskies earning CSC Academic All-District honors in the fall.
NIU Volleyball returns to the court this fall starting with an exhibition on August 22 as they host DePaul in the NIU Convocation Center before starting the season on August 29 at Stetson. Action opens at home for the Huskies with the NIU Invitational, September 5-6.
