DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University Athletics proudly announces that its 2026 Huskies Invest: A Week of Giving campaign has raised more than $1.1 million, marking the sixth consecutive year the campaign has surpassed the $1 million milestone.
 
Once again this year, the support from NIU alumni, fans, friends and community members demonstrated a steadfast commitment to advancing Huskie Athletics, with more than 600 gifts made to support over 30 different department initiatives. The campaign also saw a significant increase in donor engagement, as the average gift grew by 29 percent while major gift donor participation increased by 54 percent compared to last year. Several programs experienced substantial growth in donor support, and the campaign featured more matching gift and challenge opportunities than the year prior, underscoring the dedication of the Huskie faithful to creating greater opportunities and resources for NIU student-athletes.

"The continued success of Huskies Invest is a testament to the strength of the Huskie family and the belief our supporters have in the future of NIU Athletics," said NIU Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier. "Every gift made during this campaign helps create transformational opportunities for our student-athletes and allows us to continue investing in their success in competition, in the classroom and in life."
 
Celebrating its 10th year in 2026, Huskies Invest directly supports NIU's 400-plus student-athletes, providing vital resources in areas such as academic support, travel, wellness and facility enhancements. The growth of Huskies Invest over the past decade highlights the pride, passion and commitment of the NIU community to supporting athletics through a period of significant change and transition across the collegiate athletics landscape.
