DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team battles Saint Louis this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Field House. Admission to the match is free.
NIU (9-2) posted four wins last weekend, beginning with defeating North Dakota and Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, Iowa on Friday. The Huskies returned home to put away Milwaukee and Judson on Sunday.
Three Huskies went 4-0 in singles play through the weekend in
Irmak Budak (Istanbul, Turkey/SAJEV),
Rebeca Garcia Miralles (Castellón, Spain/IES Sos Baynat) and
Nataly Ninova (Palma de Mallorca, Spain/IES Centre De Tecnificacio Esportiva IB).
Jenna Horne (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and
Lucia Yecora (Seville, Spain/IES V Centenario School) each recorded 3-0 weekends in singles.
NIU has won nine of its last 10 matches. Budak, Ninova and Yecora are 8-2 in their last 10 singles matches while Budak is riding a six-match winning streak.
Saint Louis (0-2) will travel to Western Illinois on Saturday before its match against NIU. The Billikens have dropped matches to Illinois State and Missouri this dual season.
The Huskies will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 27 against Bradley.
