NIU Comes Up Short Against Buffalo

DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois women's tennis team fell to Buffalo, 5-2, at home on Friday afternoon.

Friday's match was competitive from start to finish with Buffalo narrowly claiming the doubles point. The Bulls won a pair of 6-4 matches at No. 1 and No. 3. Isabella Righi / Lucia Yecora were tied at 5-5 when the match was abandoned.

Singles play saw a trio three-set matches between the Huskies and Bulls. NIU got on the board with a 7-5, 6-3 win from Theodora Kousiou over Julia Laspro.

The Huskies ended up on the wrong side of tiebreaker at No. 4 and a pair three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 3 to seal the match for Buffalo.

Jenna Horne capped the match with a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 victory over Liv Roestel for her 10th singles win of the season.

NIU will host Western Michigan on Sunday.
