Huskies Drop Conference Battle to Western Michigan

DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team lost a Sunday home match against Western Michigan, falling 5-2.

The Broncos secured the doubles point with wins coming at No. 1 and No. 3.

In singles, Nataly Ninova (Palma de Mallorca, Spain / IES Centre De Tecnificacio Esportiva IB) recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Sienna Osborne. The senior is now 16-5 in the dual season and 10-4 from the No. 4 spot.

Freshman Rebeca Garcia Miralles (Castellón, Spain / IES Sos Baynat) recorded the other point for NIU with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Polina Khotko.

Western Michigan clinched the match following a three-set victory on the top court with two courts still active.

NIU will have a road test next, traveling to UMass on Sunday, March 29.
