AMHERSET, Mass. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team lost 6-1 to UMass on Sunday afternoon.

Isabella Righi / Lucia Yecora secured a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, allowing Irmak Budak / Jenna Horne to claim the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Madara Markevica / Martina Pavissich. Righi / Yecora have team-high 10 wins as a duo.

UMass responded in singles, claiming wins on all six courts. Two matches needed three sets to be decided.

Budak (Istanbul, Turkey / SAJEV) pushed Ella Faessler at No. 1 singles, but Faessler prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Yecora (Seville, Spain / IES V Centenario School) won the opening set against Pavissich, but dropped the next two to fall 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Huskies have one more road match this season, at Miami on Friday, April 3, before closing the year out with two home matches.
