Caden Robertson (Magnolia, Texas/Central Oklahoma) of the Northern Illinois University baseball team was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Huskies to a series win at Ohio this weekend.
Robertson hit .438 with four home runs, a double, a triple and 11 RBI as NIU won two out of three games at Ohio. The senior designated hitter had seven hits in the series, six of which went for extra bases for a slugging percentage of 1.375. Robertson was 2-for-5 with four RBI in game one on Friday with a home run. He had two home runs in Saturday's 13-1 victory, going 4-for-6 with four RBI and four runs scored. His three-run home run in the fifth inning on Sunday put NIU ahead 4-1 in a game the Huskies won 8-2. Robertson has hit a home run in four straight games and has had a hit in nine of the last 10 games.
Through 14 games this season Robertson leads the MAC with 22 RBI and is tied for the league lead with seven home runs. He is also second in the MAC with an .894 slugging percentage.
This is the Huskies' second MAC weekly honor this season. Junior pitcher
Danny Cihocki (Princeton, Ill./Lake Land College) was named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after his 10-strikeout performance in seven innings in NIU's 3-1 win at Presbyterian on Feb. 21.
NIU opens a three-game series at Toledo on Friday, March 13 at 2 p.m. CT.
