DEKALB, Ill. – On Saturday, NIU football will take part in the annual Spring Showcase with fans getting their first look at the 2026 Huskie football team. NIU softball will be welcome Northwestern to DeKalb on Tuesday while the Huskie baseball team hosts Eastern Michigan in a three-game set this weekend.

Saturday, April 25: Spring Showcase, 12 p.m.
NIU's annual Spring Showcase will take place on Saturday with the Huskie football team taking the field at 12 noon inside Huskie Stadium. The NIU Athletics Equipment Surplus Sale and Victor E. Threads apparel store, inside the Chessick Practice Center, to open at 9 a.m. for HAF members and to the general public at 9:30 a.m. A Huskie Fan Zone will also be open in the Chessick Center, featuring NIU inflatables and yard games. The surplus sale, Victor E. Threads and fan zone will close at 11:30 a.m.

NIU Baseball opens this week at UIC on Tuesday night before hosting Eastern Michigan for a weekend MAC series at Ralph McKinzie Field at Walt & Janice Owens Park. The Huskies took two out of three games at Akron last weekend, winning 10-8 on Friday and 8-6 on Saturday. Senior designated hitter
Caden Robertson hit two home runs last Saturday against the Zips, taking sole possession of the MAC lead in home runs with 13. The Huskies are looking for their first win over the Flames since 2018 when NIU swept a home-and-home against UIC. NIU enters the weekend tied for second in the MAC at 14-7 with Miami and Western Michigan. The Huskies have won five of their last six games against the Eagles.

Hosting their final midweek game, the Northern Illinois University Huskies softball team is set to welcome the Northwestern University Wildcats to Mary M. Bell Field on April 21. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with free admission and fans are encouraged to "Wear Black" for the game. The Huskies will head to Kalamazoo, Michigan for a MAC series against Western Michigan, April 24-25. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on April 24 before a doubleheader on April 25.
The Huskies took two games from Bowling Green before the third game of the series was cancelled due to weather. NIU opened the doubleheader with its first shutout victory of the season, a 9–0 win in five innings and followed it with a 3–1 triumph in the second game. With results from this weekend, NIU has claimed a spot in the upcoming MAC tournament in Akron, Ohio.
Danielle Stewart leads the league and is seventh in the nation with a .500 batting average while
Madison Carlson leads the team with a 2.70 ERA.
Women's Golf
Sunday-Tuesday, April 26-28: MAC Championship (Akron, Ohio)
The Huskie women's golf team will conclude regular season action as they are set to compete at the 2026 MAC Championships. Action will take place at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, a 6,137-yard course.
The Huskies were last in action as they competed at the Boilermaker Spring Classic, April 12-13.
Emile Chile led the Huskies on the course for the first time this season, finishing in the top-25.
Mia Raines has led the Huskies in five tournaments this season with her highest finish (third) at the GCU tournament.
Alexa Ouellet and
Dakota Tallent have each led twice this season for the Huskies.

NIU Track and Field will split its squad this week as a group of Huskies heads to Waco, Texas, to compete at Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational while another group travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Drake Relays.
This past weekend at Florida's Tom Jones Memorial,
Jasmijn Raes won the high jump title with the fifth-best mark in the Mid-American Conference this season, clearing 1.74 meters. The Tom Jones Memorial was the third-straight meet in which Raes won the high jump, as she also took top honors at the Texas Relays and Illinois State's Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational.
