Huskie Spring Showcase Set for April 25

DEKALB, Ill. – Huskie fans are invited to get their first look at the Northern Illinois University football team ahead of its inaugural season in the Mountain West Conference when NIU Athletics hosts its annual Huskie Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 25. 

On field activities are set to begin at 12 p.m., with the NIU Athletics Equipment Surplus Sale and Victor E. Threads apparel store, inside the Chessick Practice Center, to open at 9 a.m. for HAF members and to the general public at 9:30 a.m. The equipment surplus sale will include shirts and shorts for $5, pullovers for $10 and other miscellaneous items for less than $25, while Victor E. Threads will have deeply discounted pricing on numerous Huskie apparel items, with merchandise starting as low as $1.

A Huskie Fan Zone will also be open in the Chessick Center, featuring NIU inflatables and yard games. The surplus sale, Victor E. Threads and fan zone will close at 11:30 a.m.

Representatives from the Huskie Athletic Fund (HAF) and NIU Ticket Office will be available inside the Hall of Champions to assist with Huskie season ticket sales and renewals. Season tickets for the 2026 NIU Football season are available now starting at just $102. HAF memberships, starting at $50, can be made on-site and would provide early access to the surplus sale. 

The gates to Huskie Stadium will open at 11 a.m. with (cashless) concessions available and the NIU football team will take the field at noon for approximately two hours in a workout that will include 11-on-11 scrimmage periods, as well as one-on-one drills, special teams and more. 

Fans are invited to visit the Coaches Club on the West Side where beverages will be available for (cashless) purchase. Sky Box/Club tours are also available by request, please contact Zach Prater (zprater2@niu.edu) if you would like to arrange a Sky Box/Club tour. 

Following the Spring Showcase, Huskie Athletic Fund and NIU football season ticket members are invited to the Chessick Practice Center for a complimentary luncheon beginning at 2 p.m., where NIU football interim head coach Rob Harley and members of his staff will provide an update about spring practice, while new NIU men's basketball head coach Matt Majkrzak and NIU women's basketball head coach Jacey Brooks will provide an update on Huskie hoops. Season ticket and HAF members will be emailed a link to RVSP for the luncheon. 

In addition to all the activities at Huskie Stadium, the NIU baseball team will also be in action on Saturday, April 25, taking on Eastern Michigan with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. Huskie men's and women's soccer will also be playing spring exhibitions, with the men's soccer team facing Wheaton at 10 a.m., followed by the women's soccer team taking on Wisconsin at 1 p.m.
