DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team earned both team and individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced today. The Huskies received All-Academic Team recognition and five earned Scholar-Athlete honors.

Jenna Horne, Rebeca Garcia Miralles, Nataly Ninova, Malika Kabdesh and Isabella Righi were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Righi earned her fourth straight honor while Horne and Ninova earned their second nomination.

NIU received All-Academic Team honors with a 3.524 Spring GPA, recognition the group has earned every year under head coach Eric Burns since 2020.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 GPA for the current academic year. For ITA All-Academic Team honors, the team must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's Tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

The Huskies joined the Horizon League on July 1 following a strong spring showing that included 17 wins and the team's second straight postseason tournament.
