Match Recap

Pahl recorded the first kill of the match for the Huskies before tying the opening set at six with a solo block. Southern Indiana went on a 9-2 run that featured kills by Naomi Dowd (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) and Autumn Flynn (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco). Trailing late, Pahl had back-to-back kills for the Huskies as part of an 8-3 run before Southern Indiana took the first set, 25-18.

Delaney Steers (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) opened the second set with a kill before NIU tied the set at three. A block by Steers and Rylea Alvin (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) sparked a 6-3 run that brought NIU within one on an ace by Pahl. Southern Indiana responded with a 9-1 run that was ended by a Kylie Schulze (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) kill. The Huskies scored five consecutive points before Southern Indiana took the set, 25-19.

The third set featured an early point-for-point battle, with Alvin's kill producing the final tie at five. A 6-1 run by Southern Indiana was ended by a Pahl kill. Following the Pahl kill, NIU answered with a 5-1 run, capped by a Pahl ace. NIU and Southern Indiana traded kills through the middle of the set before three straight points by Southern Indiana gave it a five-point lead. Ava Grevengoed (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) had the final kill for the Huskies before Southern Indiana swept the match.

Lilly Abney (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) made her debut for the Huskies.
