DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team will host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at the NIU Convocation Center on Thursday, Dec. 3 in it's Horizon League game as the conference announced its 2026-27 schedule on Thursday.
The Huskies will make their Horizon League debut in its first-ever meeting against Oakland. On Dec. 6 NIU heads to Cleveland State to wrap up the first weekend of conference play. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1997. League play resumes on Dec. 31 when NIU heads to Youngstown State followed by a game at Robert Morris on Jan. 2.
NIU opens a three-game homestand on Thursday, Jan. 7 when the Northern Kentucky Norse come to the Convocation Center for the first meeting between the two programs. The Huskies will also host Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 10 and Wright State on Jan. 13. After road games at IU Indy (Jan. 16) and Milwaukee (Jan. 21), the Huskies come home to take on Cleveland State on Sunday, Jan. 24 and Youngstown State on Thursday, Jan. 28.
The Huskies go to Green Bay on Jan. 31 for the first of two meetings against the reigning Horizon League champions. February opens with a home matchup against Detroit Mercy on the third before a stretch of four games out of five on the road. NIU heads to Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 6 and Northern Kentucky on Feb. 10. The Huskies host Robert Morris on Feb. 13 before heading to Michigan to face Detroit Mercy (Feb. 17) and Oakland (Feb. 20). NIU closes the regular season at home against Green Bay on Thursday, Feb. 25 and Milwaukee on Saturday, Feb. 27.
