DeKALB, Ill.—Facing their final non-conference opponent, the Northern Illinois University Huskies Volleyball team (5-4) will welcome the UIC Flames (3-6) to Victor E. Court on Friday, September 18. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
This will be the 69th meeting between the teams with the Huskies holding a 42-26 record over the Flames. NIU won the last meeting in 2022, a 3-0 victory in DeKalb. NIU has won five of the last six meetings between the squads.

The Flames enter the match with wins this season over St. Thomas, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan. Offensively, the Flames are led by Emma Colombarl with 2.30 kills per set. Tamara Kisic and Ana Petrides both average over 2.12 kills per set for the Flames. Ava Young leads the defensive side of the with 3.30 digs per set. Robyn Ward leads the was with 1.27 blocks per set and is joined by Petrides with 1.00 blocks per set.
Junior outside hitter
Ava Grevengoed (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) leads the Huskies with 81 kills this season (2.70 per set) while
Katie Pahl (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg),
Autumn Flynn (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) and
Rylea Alvin (Randolph, Wis/Randolph) all average 2.00 or more kills per set.
NIU leads the Horizon League in hitting percentage at .231 and are second in the league for kills per set (12.93) and aces per set (1.87). Alvin is second in the league for hitting percentage and is joined by Flynn in the top-10.
Last time on the court, the Huskies won all nine sets of action at the SIUE Cougar Clash, defeating Chicago State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and SIUE. Pahl led the Huskies with 27 kills (.468 hitting percentage) while Flynn had a hitting percentage of .571 (21 kills) and Grevengoed had 23 kills over the weekend.
Delaney Steers (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) led the Huskies with six aces while Flynn led the Huskies with 11 blocks.
Charlotte Gramzow (Royal Oak, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) led NIU with 27 digs while Grevengoed had 24 digs to be second in that statistical category.
