DeKALB, IL – The final weekend of September sees NIU women's soccer wrap up their four-match homestand against Northern Kentucky and Wright State. NIU Volleyball heads to Wright State to open Horizon League play as the Huskie football team goes to Atlanta to take on Georgia State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Football

NIU wraps up its non-conference slate on Saturday, heading to Atlanta to face Georgia State. The Panthers are the second of six first-time opponents the Huskies will face this season. NIU put up a season-high 341 yards of total offense in last Saturday's game at Arizona. Quarterback Taron Dickens threw for 228 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 37 passes. Defensively NIU had four sacks on the night as Yassine Falke had an interception for the third straight game.
 
Georgia State is 2-1 after a 44-30 loss at UCF on Saturday. The Panthers lead the Sun Belt in rushing offense at 239.0 yards per game as well as total offense with 510.3 yards per game.
 
Men's Golf
Monday, Sept. 21-Tuesday, Sept. 22: Rod Myers Invitational, hosted by Duke – Live Scoring
Sunday, Sept. 27-Tuesday, Sept. 29: Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin – Live Scoring
 
The NIU Men's Golf team plays in two tournaments over the next nine days to wrap up the month of September. The Huskies are in Durham, N.C. for Duke's Rod Myers Invitational today and Tuesday, then head up to Madison for the Badger Invitational at Wisconsin starting on Sunday. The Huskies battled a deep tournament field and adverse weather last week at the Canadian Collegiate, taking 11^th place. Beau Petersen was NIU's top finisher tying for 30^th at +11. Craig Long won last season's Badger Invitational at 11-under par as NIU finished fifth.

NIU women's soccer closes its four-game homestand this week as the Huskies welcome Northern Kentucky to DeKalb on Thursday (Sept. 24) and Wright State visits NIU on Sunday (Sept. 27). The Huskies have conceded one goal or fewer in each of the last three contests and freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Devory currently ranks third in the Horizon League in both goals against average (1.13) and save percentage (.811).
 
Northern Kentucky enters this week with a 4-3-1 record after falling, 2-1, in its league opener to Youngstown State. Wright State has a mark of 3-5-1. The Raiders began Horizon League play with a 1-0 win over Robert Morris.

The Huskie volleyball team opens Horizon League action this weekend as they travel to Wright State for a two-game series. This will be the first meeting between programs since the 1996 season. NIU holds a 14-1 all-time record over the Raiders.
 
NIU is coming off their fourth-straight sweep, defeating UIC on September 18. Junior Ava Grevengoed led all players with 13 kills in the contest and tallied three blocks for the Huskies. Delaney Steers and Autumn Flynn added eight kills each for NIU while Charlotte Gramzow recorded 13 digs.

The Huskie men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of September last time out as NIU fell to Milwaukee 2-1 on Saturday (Sept. 19). Stevan Ljubicic scored his second goal of the season against the Panthers while Roman Khela recorded his fifth assist of the year. Khela is currently tied for sixth in the country in assists and is the only defender currently ranked in the top 10.
 
Wright State comes into the week in a three-way tie at the top of the Horizon League standings on six points despite falling to Purdue Fort Wayne 1-0 last time out.
 
 
Women's Tennis
Friday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept: 27: Minnesota Gopher Invitational (Minneapolis)
 
NIU women's tennis begins its fall schedule this weekend, traveling to the Minnesota Gopher Invitational. The Huskies are coming off a 17-win spring last season and a second straight national postseason tournament selection. The Huskies return six from last season's team, led by the junior class of Irmak Budak, Theodora Kousiou and Lucia Yecora. Budak earned all-conference honors last season following a 14-win campaign at No. 1 singles. 
 
 
Men's Tennis
Friday, Sept. 25-Sunday, Sept. 27: Horizon League Fall Championship (Cleveland)
 
The Huskies will face Horizon League competition for the first time this weekend, heading to Cleveland for the Horizon League Fall Championship. NIU competed in the River Forest Collegiate Invitational this past weekend and advanced to Flight 1 Finals in singles and Flight 2 Finals in doubles. Sophomore Constantin Radu recorded another two singles wins and has a five-match winning streak.
