Women's Volleyball | September 24

DeKALB, Ill.-- Opening Horizon League play on the road, the Northern Illinois University volleyball team (6-4) travels to Wright State University (5-5) for a two-match series on Sept. 25-26. The Huskies and Raiders open conference play with first serve set for 5 p.m. CT on Sept. 25, followed by a 1 p.m. CT match on Sept. 26.

Friday's match (September 25) will air live on ESPN+.

This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and Raiders in nearly three decades, with the last meeting coming during the 1996 season. NIU holds a 14-1 all-time record against Wright State.

Mya Ayro leads the Raiders with 3.94 kills per set, ranking second in the Horizon League, while Reilly Zegunis and Katie Sowko average 2.83 and 2.54 kills per set, respectively. Sowko leads the team with 13 aces this season, while Taygan Corstange averages 4.00 digs per set. Haley Robinson ranks sixth in the league in hitting percentage (.306), while Lauren Yacobucci leads the Horizon League in assists per set (10.37).
 
For the Huskies, Ava Grevengoed (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) leads the team with 94 kills, averaging 2.85 per set. Katie Pahl (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Autumn Flynn (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) follow with 2.36 and 2.24 kills per set, respectively. At the service line, Pahl leads NIU with 14 aces this season, followed by Delaney Steers (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) with 10.
 
In the Horizon League statistical rankings, the Huskies lead the league in points per set (16.82) and hitting percentage (.237). NIU ranks second in assists per set (12.06) and kills per set (13.06), while ranking third in aces per set (1.82). Rylea Alvin (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.354), while Flynn ranks seventh (.305). Pahl, Grevengoed, Alvin and Steers each rank among the top 15 in the league in at least one statistical category.
 
NIU closed the non-conference portion of its schedule with four consecutive sweeps, extending its set-winning streak to 12.
