Biography
Sara McLaughlin returns to the Northern Illinois women[apos]s tennis program as a graduate assistant coach after a four-year playing career. McLaughlin brings leadership experience to the Huskie program after serving as team captain during three of her four seasons at NIU.
In four years as a Huskie, McLaughlin compiled 32 singles victories as well as 37 doubles victories. In her junior year, she was one of two Huskies to record a victory at the MAC Championships. Over the last three summers she helped NIU Head Coach Ryun Ferrell run the NIU Adidas camp.
McLaughlin attended Moline (Ill.) High School for three years and Alleman High School for one year. During her senior season, McLaughlin compiled a 40-7 singles record and finished 12th at the IHSA championships. As part of the No. 1 doubles team as a junior, she finished the season with a 38-2 record, earning 3rd place at the IHSA championships. In both seasons, McLaughlin was named the Western Big Six Conference Player of the Year. In her senior year she served as team captain.
McLaughlin graduated from NIU in 2012 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in organizational corporate communications. She is currently pursuing her master[apos]s degree in sport management.
