The Huskie Indoor Training Center

Northern Illinois student-athletes in four sport programs will no longer have to dread the approaching winter months thanks to the Huskie Indoor Training (H.I.T.) Center. Located southwest of the Convocation Center, the H.I.T. Center serves as the indoor practice home for NIU's baseball, men's and women's golf and softball programs.

Opened in the fall of 2007, the building measures 9,800 square feet and features an Astroturf carpet floor and sport-specific lighting. Space is divided equally for baseball/softball and golf and the retractable netting allows for the redistribution of practice space.

Four full-size batting cages located on the baseball/softball side of the facility can be used by pitchers and batters alike to hone their skills in the off-season.

The golf side features space for six practice tees surrounded by netting, and includes a 400-square foot putting green for Huskies to pursue their short game. The Huskies also utilize golf swing analysis software in the H.I.T. Center to fine tune their swing mechanics.
