CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The Huskie Experience will be using various Career Development events to prepareNIU student-athletes for a professional life once they have completed their collegiate athletic careers and graduated from the university. Ultimately, the main goal for Career Development within The Huskie Experience is for student-athletes to start their professional career post-graduation or continue their education into graduate school.
SESSIONS - CAREER NIGHTS
Each semester, The Huskie Experience will host Career Nights for student-athletes toattend relative to their graduation track at NIU. For example, The Huskie Experience will host a Career Night for 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, and 4th/5th year students. These sessions are intended for teams in their off-season and will be scheduled around career events happening on-campus. Below are topics for each Career Night:
Career Nights are required for all student-athletes in their off-season (e.g. Volleyball Career Nights are in the spring, Baseball Career Nights are in the fall).

ATHLETIC CAREER FAIR
Each semester The Huskie Experience will host a career fair, separate from the campus career fairs, for student-athletes to have a more intimate career fair experience with top employers in the area. The Athletic Career Fair is meant to allow student-athletes to network with professionals in their field and potentially make a lasting impression that leads to a future career. The Career Fair each semester is focused on off-season student-athletes.
The Athletic Career Fair is required for all 4th and 5th year student-athletes in their off-season.
ON-CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT
To supplement Career Nights hosted by The Huskie Experience, student-athletes are encouraged to attend on-campus events and workshops related to the topic of career development. Each semester, The Huskie Experience team will approve a handful of on-campus events or workshops related to Career Development, such as the Academic Career Expo, Internship Fair, and Full-Time Job Fair.
The on-campus events that are chosen for the fall semester may not necessarily be the same ones chosen for the spring. Therefore, student-athletes have the opportunity to attend all of the approved on-campus events throughout the year. These events will be promoted through Huskie Highlights, Twitter, and Huskie Experience team reps.
HUSKIE SENIOR RESUME BOOK
To further help our senior student-athletes post-graduation, The Huskie Experience will develop a resume booklet containing all graduating seniors' resumes, categorized by major of study. Over the course of their time at NIU, student-athletes will start, develop, update, and perfect their resume during the Career Nights each year. The Huskie Senior Resume Book will be printed and mailed to top employers in the area, as well as housed electronically on The Huskie Experience website.
