Broadcasts of NIU Athletics events - from football, men's basketball and women's basketball games to weekly radio shows, are accessible anytime via the NIU Huskies app, The Varsity Network app and on NIUHuskies.com. NIU Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD, introduced DeKalb station 94-9 WDKB as the new flagship station for the Huskie Sports Radio Network in June of 2022. A 3,000-watt station whose coverage extends to as far north as the Illinois-Wisconsin state line, east to Aurora, Elgin and Crystal Lake, west to Dixon and south to Mendota, 94-9 94-9 WDKB will carry all NIU football, men's and women's basketball game broadcasts as well as the one-hour Inside Huskie Football and Inside Huskie Basketball coaches' shows.
In addition to 94-9 WDKB-FM in DeKalb, SportsFan Radio 1330 AM in Rockford returns for its fifth season as a Huskie Sports Network affiliate and will air “Inside Huskie Football” as well as all football game broadcasts.
All NIU games, as well as “Inside Huskie Football” and "Inside Huskie Basketball" can be heard live online at NIUHuskies.com and on mobile devices for free through either the NIU Huskies mobile app or The Varsity Network app. Both are FREE and downloadable for either iPhone or Android. “Inside Huskie Football with Thomas Hammock”
The Inside Huskie Football Radio Show with NIU Head Coach Thomas Hammock returns to Fatty's Pub and Grille (1312 W, Lincoln Highway, DeKalb) with a new night and time for the 2023 season! Fans are invited to join Hammock and host Andy Garcia, NIU football student-athletes and special guests on Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. throughout the season.
The first show will be held Wednesday, August 30 and will continue each Wednesday at 6 pm throughout the football season, except for the week of September 18 when the show will move to Thursday, September 21. See the entire radio show schedule is in the table below.
Fans can hear the show live by downloading the FREE NIU Huskies app on iOS or Android, or with the new free The Varsity Network app. “Inside Huskie Football” can also be heard live on the new NIU Huskies flagship, WDKB 94-9 FM. It will also air the same day at 6 p.m. on SportsFan AM 1330 in Rockford. The app also provides the opportunity to hear a replay of the show.

NIU Football Game Broadcasts
Each week, the Huskie Sports Network pregame show begins 30 minutes before kickoff as play-by-play man Bill Baker, color analyst Mark Lindo and sideline reporter Andy Garcia bring you pregame interviews with Thomas Hammock and Sean Frazier, and all the latest news from the stadium. After the game, hear the first interview with Hammock directly from the field, and get all the postgame stats and breakdown from the booth. Once again this season, 94-9 WDKB will broadcast the Toyota Pre-Game Party 90 minutes prior to kickoff and will be LIVE from Huskie Stadium before home games.
Now in his 44th and final season as the “Voice of the Huskies”, Baker and Lindo enter their 39th year as a radio team while Garcia is back for his 11th season on the sidelines.
WDKB 94-9 in DeKalb and SportsFan Radio AM 1330 in Rockford will air every game live in 2023, while the broadcasts are also available via the NIU Huskies and The Varsity Network mobile apps.
