Daniel Jung is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the NIU baseball team.
Jung comes to DeKalb after wrapping up his collegiate career at Notre Dame. In his graduate season of 2021, the Fighting Irish won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title and reached the NCAA Super Regionals. As a junior in 2019, Jung started 53 games at first base and set career highs with 59 hits, five home runs, and 40 runs batted in. He played in 176 games at Notre Dame with a .254 career batting average.
A native of La Mirada, Calif., Jung earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Notre Dame in 2020 and his Master of Science in Business Analytics in 2021.
