2021 Spring: Played in all 22 matches… Averaged 1.83 kills per set… Hit .457 with 16 kills and six blocks in NIU debut at Bowling Green on Jan. 22… Had 15 kills at Central Michigan on Feb. 4… Hit .474 with 11 kills and two blocks in 3-0 win at Ball State on Feb. 19… Also had 11 kills in 3-1 win at Buffalo on March 12… Had 13 kills and a season-high seven blocks in 3-2 win at Kent State on March 19.

Prior to NIU: Played two seasons at West Florida before transferring to NIU… Member of the Argonauts’ back-to-back Gulf South Conference championship teams… Played in all 33 matches in 2019, averaging 1.49 kills and 0.67 blocks per set… Four-year letterwinner at Lockport High School… Earned All-Southwestern Suburban Blue Conference honors three times and was All-Area Second Team twice… As a senior, Kovanda was an All-State Honorable Mention selection after hitting .334 with 232 kills and 46 aces.
