Biography

2011: Did not see any action during the season.

2010: In first season at tight end, saw action in every game except the Illinois contest (9-18) at either tight end or on special teams. Member of the PAT/FG unit and also served as back-up deep snapper, although he was not used in that role. Spent most of the season in the third or fourth spot on the depth chart at tight end but did get into several games late in the season where he was an effective blocker.

2009: Appeared in 10 games as a defensive lineman. Compiled seven tackles, including one for loss. Made a season-high two stops against Wisconsin (9-5) and versus Idaho (9-26). Had one tackle for loss against the Badgers. Tallied one tackle each in games versus Western Illinois (9-12), Purdue (9-19), and South Florida (1-3). Also worked as the back-up deep snapper. Moved to tight end during the 2010 spring drills and looks to open 2010 season with that group.

2008: Saw action in eight games as a reserve defensive lineman. Totaled seven tackles with two solo and two tackles for loss. Made a career-high three stops, including one TFL, against Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl (12-28). Had one tackle for loss at Kent State (11-18). Made one tackle each in the Indiana State (9-20), Eastern Michigan (9-27), and Ball State (11-5) games.

High School: Ranked eighth in the Rivals.com Iowa Top 10. As a senior, was recognized by the Des Moines Register on its Elite All-State Team and on the Iowa Newspaper Association All-State first team. Garnered All-Mississippi Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors for his part in Bettendof[apos]s 13-0 record and Iowa Class 4A state championship. Earned a bevy of all-state accolades from the Iowa High School Association (first team), Des Moines Register (second team), and Iowa Newspaper Association (third team) as a junior. Recorded 82 tackles (38 solo), as well as 10 TFLs and seven sacks. As a junior, totaled 77 tackles (40 solo), including 16 for loss and seven sacks, on Bettendorf[apos]s 10-2 squad. Received Iowa Class 4A Academic All-State honors for both football and track and field. Threw shot put and discus, for which he was a state qualifier.

Personal: Born Dec. 5, 1989. Son of Matthew and Amy Coleman. Earned Victory Scholar status with a 3.757 GPA. Uncle Spin Williams played tight end at Northern Iowa, was a pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 28 years and is the player development and scouting pitching advisor for the Washington Nationals. Father played basketball at Saint Ambrose. Pre-physical therapy major.
