Biography

Former Huskie defensive lineman Alex Krutsch, who returned to his alma mater in 2010 as Northern Illinois[apos] graduate assistant for video operations, will serve as the defensive GA for the Huskies in 2011. A native of Schaumburg, Ill., Krutsch was a four-year letterwinner for the Huskies from 2005-08 who started 24 games in his final two seasons and made 30 starts while playing in 39 games in his career. Krutsch totaled 85 tackles, 14 for loss, during his time at NIU, including a career high eight at Navy in 2007. As a junior in 2007, Krutsch had a career-high 44 stops in 12 games, with 6.5 for loss. He was a third-team All-MAC selection by Phil Steele[apos]s Magazine that year and won the team[apos]s Jawan Jackson Award, given to the former walk-on who makes the biggest impact on the team. Krutsch came to Northern Illinois from Schaumburg High School where he was named an honorable mention all-area choice by the Daily Herald and a second team Mid-Suburban League honoree. He earned his bachelor[apos]s degree from Northern Illinois in communications in May 2009.
