Biography

Saw action in 39 games over his last three seasons. Credited with 75 career tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks. Broke up four passes. Started his career as a defensive end before moving inside his last three years.

2013: Played in 11 games and started eight of the Huskies' last nine games. Missed the first three games of the season. Made 31 tackles, with 2.5 tackles for loss, on the year. Had seven multiple-tackle games. Recorded season-highs in tackles (six) and tackles for loss (two) in the MAC Championship game (12-6) vs. Bowling Green. Recorded four tackles in the Poinsettia Bowl game (12-26). Tallied four tackles and added half a sack against Akron (10-12). Registered three stops at UMass (11-2). Collected four tackles, including three solo, against Ball State (11-13). Tallied four tackles at Toledo (11-20).

2012: Played in all 14 games with four starts at defensive tackle. Made 27 tackles with a pass break up and fumble recovery. Ranked fourth on the team with four sacks and sixth in tackles for loss with 8.5 for 35 yards. Finished the season strong with 11 tackles, 5.5 TFLs and three sacks in the final five games. Made a career-high five tackles, including one for loss, against Buffalo (10-13). Recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, along with a six-yard sack, against Kent State (11-30) in the MAC title game. Recovered a fumble at Akron (10-20) that helped lead to an NIU field goal. Posted two tackles for loss and a sack against UMass (11-3).

2011: Played in all 14 games and started versus Kansas (9-10), Wisconsin (9-17) and in the GoDaddy.com Bowl against Arkansas State (1-8). In his first season at defensive tackle, registered 16 tackles with five tackles for loss and two sacks. Made a career-high four tackles at Kansas (9-10), broke up a pass and had a tackle for loss. Tallied a 13-yard sack against Ohio (12-2) on the Bobcats[apos] opening drive of the second half. Recorded a nine-yard sack against Western Michigan (10-15). Credited with a tackle for loss against Toledo (11-1) and Ball State (11-15). Opened the season with a three-tackle performance versus Army (9-3). Matched that total versus Ohio (12-2) when he also had a quarterback hurry. Had two stops versus Ball State (11-15).

2010: Appeared in four games as a reserve defensive end, totaling one tackle and a pass break-up. Saw action in successive games versus North Dakota (9-11), Illinois (9-18) and Minnesota (9-25), as well as against Buffalo (10-16). Recorded his first career tackle for a one-yard loss versus the Bulls and knocked down a pass at Illinois.

2009: Redshirted.

High School: Garnered Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times all-state honorable mention honors as a senior. Earned first team all-conference honors that year. Recorded 70 tackles and 11 sacks during his senior season and was named the team[apos]s Defensive Player of the Year and Lineman of the Year. Broke up five passes and intercepted one. As a junior, credited with 90 tackles, 50 solo, eight sacks and five pass break-ups. Added 50 stops his freshman year with seven sacks and five forced fumbles. For his career, compiled 210 tackles, 26 sacks, forced nine fumbles and recovered three with two interceptions and 17 pass deflections.
