Biography

2010: Earned the honors of being selected to the 2010 All-MAC First Team Defense and was named the team's 2010 Defensive Back of the Year. His 12 passes defended this season, including three interceptions and a team-high nine pass break-ups, ranks him third in the league in passes defended (1.0 per game). Improved his season tackle total to 63 after recording eight stops, seven solo, against Miami (Ohio) in the 2010 MAC Championship game (12-3) to rank fifth on the team. Tallied one tackle against Eastern Michigan (11-26). Named NIU's Defensive Back of the Week after recording two pass break-ups as well as a forced fumble and fumble recovery at Ball State (11-20). Also credited with a team-high eight tackles, all solo including two tackles for loss, against the Cardinals. Recorded five tackles and a pass break-up against Toledo (11-9). Added eight tackles and a pass break-up at Western Michigan (10-30). Intercepted his third pass in as many games this season with a pick versus Central Michigan (10-23). Added seven tackles, including a half tackle for loss, against the Chippewas. Made his second interception of the season, returning it for 21 yards, and broke up two passes against Buffalo (10-16). Also recorded one solo tackle. Named NIU's Defensive Back of the week after recording four tackles, including his first interception of the season and a pass break-up, against Temple (10-9). Credited with a solo tackle at Akron (10-2). Named NIU's Defensive Back of the Week after tallying a game-high nine tackles, seven solo, in his return to the starting line up at Minnesota (9-25). Recorded one pass break-up and two tackles, both assists, against North Dakota (9-11). Tied his career-high in tackles with nine stops at Iowa State (9-2). Also recorded a tackle for loss and a pass break-up in the season opener.

2009: Appeared in 13 games and started 12. Played exceptionally well at the cornerback position in his first season at NIU. Ranked tied for third on the team in pass break ups with four and finished fourth on the team in tackles with 70. His 43 stops were second highest on the team. Made six stops, with four solo tackles, at Central Michigan (11-27). Led the Huskies with a career-high nine stops, six solo, versus Ohio (11-21). Named NIU's defensive skill player of the week after making four tackles and recovering a fumble against Toledo (10-17). Recovered fumbles versus Western Illinois (9-12) and Toledo. Tallied six stops, five solo, and blocked a field goal versus Miami (10-24). Made his first career start against Western Illinois, finishing the game with five tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass break-up. Totaled eight tackles, with five solo stops, against South Florida in the International Bowl (1-3). Recorded three stops, all solo, and two pass break ups against Akron (10-31). Had multiple stops in each contest in which he played, including six tackles each in games against Purdue (9-19), Idaho (9-26), Miami, and Central Michigan and five tackles in games against Wisconsin (9-5), Western Illinois, Western Michigan (10-3), Ball State (11-12).
Junior College: Recorded 41 tackles, six interceptions, 15 pass break-ups, forced two fumbles and blocked a kick for Highland C.C. in 2008. Second-team all-conference selection ranked as the 49th best JUCO prospect in the country. Saw action as a cornerback as well as a kick and punt returner. Enrolled at NIU in January 2009 and participated in spring drills. Twin brother Donald also plays for the Huskies.
