Alex Barr

Alex Barr begins his second season as a graduate assistant coach at NIU and will work with the offensive line after one season with the defensive line. Barr, who came to NIU after a successful playing career at North Carolina State, spent the 2016 season with the Huskies as an intern, assisting with the NIU running backs.

Barr was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Wolfpack, playing his last three years for current NIU offensive coordinator Mike Uremovich. The Fayetteville, Ga. native was a four-year letterwinner, helping NCSU to three bowl appearances during his time in Raleigh. Following his final game, he was invited to play in the College Gridiron Showcase postseason game.

At Starrs Mill High School in Fayetteville, Barr helped lead his team to the Region 3 AAAA title and a spot in the state championship game as a senior.  He was named second team All-State in 2010 and won first team all-region and all-county honors.

Barr graduated from N.C. State with a degree in history and is pursuing a master’s degree in adult and secondary education at NIU. Â
