Mitch Viger enters his second season working with the NIU football program and his first as a graduate assistant in 2018. Viger, who spent last season as an offensive quality control intern for the Huskies, will work with the Huskie linebackers this year and assist in scouting, recruiting and film breakdown while coaching the scout offense.

A native of Crystal Lake, Ill., Viger came to NIU after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State where he earned his master’s degree in Education. In two seasons with the Jackrabbits, South Dakota State won the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference and made two FCS playoff appearances.
Viger, who graduated from Illinois in 2013, spent a year as an assistant at high alma mater, Crystal Lake South High School. He also spent a year as the offensive GA at Harding University, helping the Bison to the 2014 NCAA Division II Playoffs.
