After two seasons on the NIU coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach, Ty Boles was elevated to a full-time role as Huskie running backs coach in 2025.
Boles worked with the Huskie defense upon his arrival at NIU in 2023. In 2024, he moved over to the offensive side of the ball to assist with the running backs, including Antario Brown, who finished his career with more than 3,000 rushing yards.
A native of Panama City, Florida, Boles spent three seasons as a running back at Samford after beginning his college career at William Jewell College in 2018. At Samford, he served as a team captain and played in seven games in both the COVID-19 delayed spring 2020 season (played in spring 2021) and in the fall 2021 campaign. On the first carry of his Bulldog career, he scored on a 57-yard run versus Western Carolina. He also saw time on the Samford special teams, including as a kick returner.
Boles was a first team all-county and all-conference player at North Bay Haven High School in Panama City who earned honorable mention Class 4A All-State honors. A four-sport athlete, he set the school record in the shot put and won the district and county titles in weightlifting.
Boles earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Samford University in 2022. He and his wife, the former Julia Oliveira, were married in 2025.
