Biography

Recorded 239 tackles in his four-year career with the Huskies. Also tallied 19 tackles for loss, three sacks, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles and an interception. Played in 48 games with 27 starts. Tied for seventh in NIU history with 148 assisted tackles in his career.

2011: Second Team All Mid-American Conference selection by Phil Steele... Named NIU Linebacker of the Year by the coaching staff... Led the team and ranked 10th in the MAC with 115 tackles... Led all Huskie linebackers and ranked fourth on the team with 10 tackles for loss, including two sacks... Second on the team with six pass breakups and tallied two quarterback hurries... Led the team in tackles in four games during the year... Recorded at least five stops in every game, in addition to making 10 or more on four occasions... Recorded a season-high 11 tackles three times, versus Cal Poly (9-24), Buffalo (10-22) and Toledo (11-1)... Made at least tackle for loss in nine games... Totaled 32 tackles, 1.5 stops for loss, one sack, four pass breakups and a quarterback hurry in a three-game stretch from Oct. 15 through Nov. 1... Registered 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack against Cal Poly (9-24) to earn NIU Defensive Skill Player of the Week honors... Made nine tackles, two for a loss, to get the NIU Defensive Skill Player of the Week award following the Army (9-3) game... Posted eight stops and 1.5 tackles for loss at Kansas (9-10) to take NIU Defensive Skill Player of the Week recognition... Tallied 10 tackles, two pass breakups and a key 11-yard sack early in the first quarter versus Western Michigan (10-15)... Made eight tackles and 1.5 stops for loss against Eastern Michigan (11-25).

2010: Came back from spring knee surgery to play in 10 games on the year as a back-up at middle linebacker. Missed the first four games of the year while rehabbing the knee before returning to the field at Akron (10-2). Recorded 18 tackles, a pair of tackles for loss and led NIU with two forced fumbles on the year. In on four stops in his return at Akron. Three of his four tackles versus Temple (10-9) were solos and he added a four-yard tackle for loss. Credited with a forced fumble and a solo tackle against both Buffalo (10-16) and Ball State (11-20). Made a season-high six stops, five solo, against Eastern Michigan (11-26).

2009: Ranked third on the team with 82 tackles, including 28 solo stops, while starting all 13 games at middle linebacker. Totaled 5.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, a pass break up and a forced fumble on the year. Hit double-digit figures in tackles twice with 12 stops and half a sack at Ball State (11-12) and 11 tackles versus Idaho (9-26). Registered nine stops versus both Toledo (10-17) and Central Michigan (11-27). Added one-and-a-half tackles for loss in the Toledo game and recorded a TFL in each of the last five games of the season, including the International Bowl. Broke up a pass versus Western Illinois (9-12) and forced a fumble in the regular-season finale at CMU. Named NIU[apos]s defensive skill player of the week against Akron (10-31) when he had five tackles. Tallied six tackles each in games against Wisconsin (9-5), Western Illinois, Eastern Michigan (11-5), and four stops each against Western Michigan (10-3), Miami (10-24), and South Florida (1-3). Added three tackles each versus both Purdue (9-19) and Ohio (11-21).

2008: Played in all 13 games at linebacker. Totaled 24 tackles, nine solo, to go with three tackles for loss, one interception and half a sack. Tallied a career-high six stops with one TFL at Ball State (11-5). Intercepted a pass to stop Toledo[apos]s final possession and had one tackle against the Rockets (10-18). Charted five tackles with two solo versus Miami (OH) (10-11). Made two stops, including sharing a sack with Larry English, against Central Michigan (11-12). Collected three tackles, one for loss, against Indiana State (9-20). Made his collegiate debut at Minnesota (8-30) and notched his first career tackle at Western Michigan (9-6).

2007: Redshirted.

High School: Named to the first team all-state squad as a senior. Two-time first team all-conference and all-area selection. Totaled 190 tackles, eight sacks, six forced fumbles, six pass deflections, and two blocked kicks in two-plus years on varsity. Also played running back and ran for 1,169 yards and 25 touchdowns with four touchdown catches. As a senior, ran 65 times for 487 yards and 12 scores. Led the Vikings to an 11-2 record in 2006, when he served as team captain. Member of the 2004 state semifinalist squad at Geneva and his team won Western Sun league titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Personal: Born Nov. 12, 1988. Son of Catherine and Patrick Schiller. Enjoys boxing, music and art. Holds a 3.225 GPA as a Huskie Scholar. Physical education major. Lifelong Huskie fan.
