2006: Redshirted. High School: Team captain and first team All-NIC-9 Conference as senior. Ranked among NIC-9 Conference reception leaders with 10 catches for 193 yards and four TDs on Class 7A playoff qualifier during senior year. Earned first team All-NIC-9 honors with seven grabs for 120 yards and one TD as junior. Played tight end, defensive end and defensive tackle. Three-time football and basketball letterwinner. Starting center on basketball team and averaged 11 points and seven rebounds to earn all-conference honors for conference co-champion and regional champion. Scored eight points, three rebounds and blocked a shot in game at NIU Convocation Center vs. Westchester St. Joseph during senior season. Part of regional championship team as junior. Personal: Born Feb. 5, 1988. Son of Vernon and Penny Sims. Liberal Arts & Sciences major. Father, Vernon Sims, was a three-year letterwinner at NIU as defensive end and linebacker from 1983-86 and played for the MAC and California Bowl Champions. Uncle, Reggie Sims, was a tight end at NIU from 1981-84. Enjoys working with computers in spare time.
