Ronnie Bouemboue

Ronnie Bouemboue begins his second season as a member of the Northern Illinois University men’s soccer staff in 2023. Bouemboue came to DeKalb following two seasons as head coach at Eastern Illinois. 

In his first season with the Huskies, Bouemboue helped mentor a pair of all-league honorees as Adrian Corona and Adrian Lara each earned All-MAC recognition. NIU retained the Lewang Cup with a 3-2 victory over Milwaukee, the Huskies have held the trophy since 2018. 

Off the field, NIU had a program record 11 Academic All-MAC recipients as well as six Academic All-District performers. 

Bouemboue took over the Eastern Illinois program in February 2020 and helped the Panthers garner the Summit League Team Academic Award in 2020-21. He joined the Panthers from IUPUI, where he spent four seasons as an assistant coach (2016-19). During his time with the Jaguars, Bouemboue mentored a pair of Horizon League All-Freshman Team selections and helped IUPUI reach the 2018 Horizon League Tournament, its first postseason appearance in five seasons. Bouemboue was named to the United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 program in August 2017. 

Prior to his time at IUPUI, Bouemboue spent two seasons (2015-16) as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, North Carolina State, his second stint on the Wolfpack men’s soccer staff. 

Following an outstanding playing career at NC State, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native became the Director of Soccer Operations for the Wolfpack for three seasons (2010-12). During that time, he also worked as an assistant coach for the North Carolina Olympic Development Program and clubs in the Raleigh area.  

Bouemboue spent two years as an assistant coach at Bradley (2013-14), helping the Braves win the Missouri Valley Conference championship and reach the NCAA Tournament in 2013. 

As a player, Bouemboue was a two-time All-ACC honoree at NC State (2008 and 2009) and the only three-time All-ACC Tournament selection (2006, ’08 and ’09) in program history. Bouemboue ranks in the top-15 in NC State history in career points and career assists and was invited to the 2010 Major League Soccer combine. 

Bouemboue earned his bachelor's degree in business administration (marketing) from NC State in 2008 and a master’s in liberal arts from NC State in 2013.
