Ashley Wade enters her ninth season as an assistant coach for the Northern Illinois University softball team in 2023.

Wade comes to NIU after one season at Northwestern Oklahoma State where she was responsible for working with Ranger outfielders and hitters. As a team, the Rangers batted .277 in 47 games, with Jordan Haya leading the way with a .353 average.

A graduate of Stevenson University, she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2013 while serving as a volunteer assistant with the softball team. In three seasons as an assistant with the Mustangs (2012-14), Wade helped lead Stevenson to its first conference championship appearance in 2013. The Mustangs also recorded its first-ever postseason victory that season as well. While at Stevenson, Wade was also responsible for monitoring the team's academic progress.

Prior to her tenure at Stevenson, Wade served as an assistant at Coppin State from 2009-11. At Coppin State, she helped lead the Eagles to the MEAC Tournament for the first time in six years. Also in 2010, Wade helped lead the Eagles to a school-record 22 wins and an appearance in the MEAC Softball Championship. The Eagles also broke 14 individual and team records and had two All-MEAC first team selections.

Before her arrival at Coppin State, Wade earned her associate of arts degree from Dundalk Community College in 2007 where she played to seasons for the Lady Lions.
