Former Wisconsin basketball player Anya Covington (2009-12) enters her first season in 2012-13 as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball program. Covington returns to her home state as an Edwardsville native and reunites with Kathi Bennett, who was an assistant coach at UW when she joined the program.
As a player, Covington made 123 appearances for the Badgers, earning four letters and being selected as a team captain during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. In her senior year, Covington was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. She also twice earned the Big Ten's Sportsmanship Award.
After her time in Madison, Covington moved overseas to play in Germany, where she played professionally for a year with the Rhein Main Baskets. She graduated from Wisconsin with degree in English in 2012.
