Tyler Vaundry is in his first season at NIU as assistant coach and director of women's basketball operations.
Vaundry comes to NIU after serving as an assistant coach at Valdosta State last season. In his role Vaundry designed the Lady Blazers’ defense and assisted in scouting opponents. Valdosta State was 16-13 on the year with two All-Gulf South Conference honorees, Erin Whalen who was named to the First Team and Ary Hicks to the Third Team.
From 2023-25 Vaundry was a graduate assistant for the Baylor women’s basketball program. Baylor reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2024 and won 26 games, then won 28 games and reached the NCAA Second Round in 2025. In that time the Bears had a WNBA draft pick in Aaronette Vonleh and an All-American in Darianna Littlepage-Buggs.
Vaundry earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 2023 and his master’s in education from Baylor in 2025.
