Cassie Alcala

Cassie Alcala enters her first year as a graduate assistant with the NIU women’s tennis program in 2024-25 after a standout four-year playing career at the University of Toledo.
 
In four years as a Rocket, Alcala was a three-time MAC Player of the Year, accumulating a 100-21 singles record and a 77-40 doubles record. Her 100 singles wins and 177 combined wins are both program records. In her senior season, she led Toledo to the MAC regular season championship, the MAC tournament championship, and was named the conference tournament MVP. Alcala posted her best doubles record during her senior season with a 23-8 mark.
 
During her junior campaign in the 2022-23 season, Alcala was named MAC Co-Player of the Year while leading her team to a MAC regular season championship. She finished the season 19-5 at No. 1 singles and was named MAC Singles Player of the Week twice. During the 2021-22 season, Alcala posted a 28-3 singles record en route to MAC Player of the Year honors. As a freshman, Alcala was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-MAC.
 
Academically, Alcala is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, a three-time Academic All-MAC honoree, and a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
 
Prior to Toledo, Alcala was ranked No. 77 nationally by tennisrecruiting.net. A native of Pickerington, Ohio, Alcala complied a 103-10 singles record in four years at Pickerington North High School. Qualifying for the OHSAA state tournament all four years, Alcala was the state runner-up in 2017 and finished third in 2019.
 
Alcala graduated from Toledo in 2024 with a degree in human resource management and is pursuing a master’s in business administration at NIU.
