Volleyball AC Morgan Salow

Morgan Salow

Morgan Salow is in her first season as an assistant coach for the NIU volleyball program.

“Morgan comes to our program at a really good time,” said head coach Ray Gooden. “We’re really excited to have her levels of experience not only as a volleyball coach, but also as a former standout student-athlete.”

Salow comes to NIU after serving as an assistant coach at IUPUI for the 2019 season. At IUPUI Salow coordinated IUPUI’s defense and managed recruiting. She began her coaching career at Jacksonville State University in 2011, spending three seasons with the Gamecocks. Salow coached the middle blockers and right side hitters as well as running the team’s defense. She also served as recruiting coordinator. During her time at Jacksonville State the Gamecocks had four student-athletes earn All-Ohio Valley Conference honors as the team earned two American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Awards.

She joined the staff at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014 and spent four seasons with the Spartans. Salow earned the AVCA 30 Under 30 award in 2016. As defensive coordinator that season, Salow led UNC Greensboro to the top of the Southern Conference in digs per set and opponent hitting percentage. During her time at UNC Greensboro, the Spartans had a SoCon Libero of the Year, Freshman of the Year and earned a total of 25 SoCon weekly and postseason honors. Salow’s recruiting prowess showed as UNC Greensboro’s 2017 recruiting class was ranked in the top-60 of Prepvolleyball.com’s class rankings for that year.

Salow has also coached at club programs Mintonette Sports in Powell, Ohio and the Capital Volleyball Academy in Madison, Wis.

“I would like to thank Coach Gooden and his staff for this opportunity to join the Huskie family,” Salow said. “I’m excited to be a part of such a special program Ray has developed here at NIU with an outstanding volleyball tradition and a special group of players. I’m looking forward to getting in the gym with this group and also getting back on the recruiting trail to share all that NIU has to offer a student-athlete.”

Salow played collegiately at Wisconsin from 2005-08. The Badgers reached the NCAA tournament Elite Eight in 2005 and finished the season ranked 10th in the country. The following year, Wisconsin got to the Sweet Sixteen. Salow earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2010.
