Eric Rwahwire joins the NIU men’s basketball staff as an Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development for the 2025-26 season. Rwahwire joins the Huskies following two seasons as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech.
Rwahwire helped the Red Raiders to a pair of 20-win seasons, including a 28-9 campaign in 2024-25, as Texas Tech reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
A Toronto, Ontario, Canada native, Rwahwire played at UC Riverside and the University of Toronto before also playing for the Uganda National Team. At UC Riverside, he averaged 6.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game from 2015-19. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from UC Riverside and finished his playing career in college at Toronto in the 2019-20. He was drafted by the Hamilton Honey Badgers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
