Yanez enters his first season with the Huskies in 2026.
Yanez spent the last five seasons on the staff at the University of Illinois Chicago. He brings more than a decade of NCAA Division I volleyball experience as both a coach and student-athlete, with coaching stops across the Missouri Valley, ACC, Sun Belt, and Big 12 Conferences. At UIC, Yanez was involved in all aspects of program operations and athlete development, including opponent scouting and film analysis, defensive game planning, recruiting, scheduling, summer camps, and NCAA and conference compliance.
Prior to UIC, Yanez spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Miami, where he helped the Hurricanes lead the ACC in aces per set in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019. His work centered on serve-receive development, opponent scouting, match strategy, and the development of back-court defenders and six-rotation outside hitters.
Yanez also served as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina, helping the Chanticleers post a 28–5 record, win the Sun Belt Championship, and advance to the program's first NCAA Second Round. Earlier in his career, he was part of the Kansas staff that advanced to the 2015 NCAA National Semifinals and finished No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Poll. Across his coaching career, Yanez has developed a reputation for detailed scouting, first-contact development, tactical preparation, recruiting, and comprehensive program administration.
Before entering the coaching profession, Yanez enjoyed a decorated playing career at Lewis University as a libero. He earned AVCA Second Team All-American and Volleyball Magazine Second Team All-American honors, was a First Team All-MIVA selection in 2015, and helped Lewis finish as the NCAA Men's National Runner-Up that season. He was also a two-time MIVA Player of the Week.
Yanez earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Lewis University in 2015. He was a two-time MIVA Academic All-Conference honoree, received the Brother David Delahanty Student-Athlete Award in 2014 and 2015, and was named to the Lewis University Dean's List in both years.
Yanez resides in Geneva with his wife Samantha and daughters, Lilliana and Gemma.
