Six NIU Staffers Receive Promotions

Oct. 11, 2006

DeKALB, Ill. - Six members of the Northern Illinois University athletics staff have been promoted in conjunction with a reorganization process within the department, NIU Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Phillips announced Wednesday.

Phillips awarded "Senior" Associate Athletic Director titles to Glen Krupica, an NIU grad who returned to his alma mater in 2005, and to veteran athletic department staffer Robert Collins. In his role as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs, Krupica has daily oversight of the marketing and media relations efforts, development and ticket sales as well as sport supervision of the Huskie wrestling program.

As Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare, Collins' responsibilities include oversight of the strength and conditioning, athletic training, athletic equipment and CHAMPS/Life Skills program while also serving as the sport administrator for football and men's basketball.

Former Northern Illinois gymnastics coach Bobbie Cesarek, who was the Huskies' Director of Compliance, was named Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, while Francine St. Clair, one of the newest additions to the senior administrative team, was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Academic Support Services. Formerly, St. Clair was Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services. Last spring, NIU's 469 student-athletes posted their highest cumulative grade point average in school history at 3.0136.

In addition to Cesarek's promotion in the area of compliance, Ed Pasque, who came to NIU as assistant director of compliance, was named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and also given sport administrator responsibilities with women's soccer and women's track and field/cross country.

Lastly, Phillips elevated his assistant, Janaan Mickey, to Senior Administrative Assistant. Mickey has been on the NIU Athletics Staff since 1983.

"Each of these individuals is an integral part of a great administrative team we have assembled here at Northern Illinois," Phillips said. "Under their leadership, as well as the rest of our senior staff and head coaches, Huskie Athletics will continue to move in a positive direction. To be sure, I am extremely excited about the future of this program."
