The Red team scored a dramatic 2-1 victory by scoring in its final at-bat when Jeff Thomas doubled home Daniel Jewett for the winning run in the final game of the NIU Fall World Series.
Marc Besteman crossed the plate for the first run of the game to put the Black up 1-0 in the first inning. The Red team evened the game at one in the third when Jewett singled and came around to score on a double by Dave Reynolds.
The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the seventh when the Red broke the tie and notched the victory.
Jewett singled twice and scored twice to lead the Red offense while Justin Hood went two-for-two and walked for the Black.
