NIU-Toledo Postgame Notes

Nov. 7, 2006

Recap |  Box Score

***NIU sophomore WR Britt Davis caught nine passes for 163 yards Tuesday to establish career highs in both categories as well as the team season highs for any Huskie receiver this year. Davis recorded his second 100-yard game of the season and of his career.

***Northern Illinois receiver Marcus Perez caught his fourth touchdown pass of the season to conclude the Huskies' first drive. It was the first time this season that NIU has scored on its first drive of the game. Each of Perez' touchdown receptions has come versus a MAC team.

***NIU kicker Chris Nendick has now scored points in a school record 34 consecutive games. With a pair of field goals tonight, Nendick moved past Vince Scott (1980-83) into third place on the Northern Illinois' career field goals list with 42. John Ivanic (1987-90) is second on the list with 46 career threes.

***Nendick's 17 field goals this season ties for the fifth-highest single season total for NIU. His 22 attempts rank fifth on the single season list.

***With seven points tonight, Nendick passed Ivanic on the NIU career points list with 254. Nendick trails Steve Azar, Garrett Wolfe and Michael Turner (2000-03), who scored 288 points, on the career scoring list.

***Offensive tackle Doug Free made his 46th consecutive start for the Huskies which ties him for the third longest streak in the country. Free has started every game of his NIU career with 44 starts at offensive tackle; the Wisconsin native started a pair of games at tight end at the end of the 2004 season.

***NIU defensive tackle Craig Rusch has at least one tackle for loss in every game he has played this season. The sophomore ranks second on the team with 10 tackles for loss.

***Wide receiver Greg Turner recorded a career-long 24-yard punt return for the Huskies in the second quarter.

***Adriel Hansbro recorded his first interception of the season, the fifth interception by an NIU player this year and the second INT by a Huskie defensive back in the third quarter. It was the senior's sixth career interception.

***Northern Illinois linebacker Tim McCarthy recorded a season-high 16 tackles. McCarthy also upped his team leading pass break-up total to six.

***Defensive end Larry English tallied his 10th quarterback sack of the season which ties for the second highest single season total in school history along with Larry Williams (2002) and Cary Caliendo (1987). The NIU single season record for quarterback sacks is 12 by Scott Kellar (1984).

***The 49 passing yards by Toledo tonight was the first time NIU has held an opponent under 70 yards passing since November 18, 2000 when Central Michigan gained just 65 on 7-of-24 passing. That was 68 games ago.
