NIU Women's Tennis Signs Two for 2008-09

Nov. 29, 2007

DeKALB, Ill.-Northern Illinois University head women's tennis coach Ryun Ferrell announced the signings of Sara McLaughlin from Moline High School in Moline, Ill. and Emily Rogers from Century High School in Rochester, Minn. to National Letters of Intent.

"Having players like Emily and Sara will add to the depth in our tennis line up," Ferrell said. "They are very talented and should impact our line up right away."

Last season, Rogers posted a 2-2 record in the 2007 Minnesota State Tournament and is currently ranked fourth by Tennis Recruiting.net. A four-year letterwinner, Rogers posted a perfect 36-0 record in Minnesota's Big Nine Conference. A two-time captain, Rogers was a first team all-conference selection all four years

McLaughlin, ranked 12th by Tennis Recruiting.net, posted a 4-2 mark at the 2007 Illinois State Tournament. She just wrapped up a 7-0 senior season in Western Big Six Conference play, earning her second team All-State accolades and Moline High School's player of the year honors. She left Moline with a 24-3 career conference mark.

The Huskies return to the courts Jan. 26, 2008 when NIU heads up to Madison to take on Wisconsin.
