Jon Brost Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Team

Nov. 8, 2007

DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois offensive tackle Jon Brost (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team announced Thursday. The junior lineman earned a first-team selection for District 5 and is eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

An Electrical Engineering major with a 3.56 GPA, Brost has started all nine contests at right tackle and leads the Huskies with 32 career starts. His 34 career games played are the most of any NIU offensive lineman.

Brost has played every snap to date this season and did not yield a sack until game seven. Following Northern Illinois' Sept. 22 victory at Idaho, Brost was awarded a "winners" jersey by coaches, a rare achievement for an offensive lineman. The next week at Central Michigan, he earned a season-best 87 percent grade.

Last season Brost started 11 of 13 games and earned Academic All-MAC honors. In 2005, Brost started all 12 contests and was named third team Freshman All-America by The Sporting News.
