Men's Basketball Post Game Quotes

NIU vs. Arkansas-Little Rock

NIU Convocation Center, DeKalb, Ill.

December 29, 2007

Head Coach Ricardo Patton

On the Game: "This was a great win for our program. Our young men stepped up big and made huge plays down the stretch. I thought our intensity was good for forty minutes. With the schedule that we've played we have learned that if you play with intensity for forty minutes, anything can happen."

On the team's defense: "We spend the majority of our practice time on our defense. I think that right now our defense is certainly ahead of our offense. Our emphasis has always been on the defensive end."

On the crowd: "I would like to thank the crowd that came out to the game today, particularly because they haven't seen us for a while. I thought our fans were really loud and they helped us get the win today."

On freshman players: "As expected we are going through some growing pains with players that were in high school this time last season. One of the characteristics of youth is inconsistency and certainly when you look at freshman and even those who have redshirted. These guys are still learning to play the game."

On winning at Home: "Whenever you win, it teaches you how to win. If we don't have a sense of pride of where you play, you are in the wrong profession."

Senior Forward Shaun Logan

On close games this season: We have had a lot of energy in close home games this season but we need to show the same intensity of the road. We hope to keep winning the close ones as well as stop making games closer than they need to be.
