MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Northern Illinois split its doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, winning game one 10-9 and dropping game two 11-1. The Huskies ended the day with a 24-19 overall record after extending their season-high road win streak to three games with the game one triumph.

Game One

Dave Reynolds went three-for-three with four RBI to pace a 10-run, 13-hit attack and Anthony Maziur scored the game's deciding run on a seventh inning error as Northern Illinois prevailed 10-9 over UW-Milwaukee in game one of a doubleheader at Henry Aaron Field.

NIU opened up a 2-0 lead in its first two at-bats on a first inning sacrifice fly by Jesse Seykora and a second inning RBI single by Reynolds.

The Panthers countered by scoring four runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 advantage. In their ensuing at-bat, the Huskies put up a four-spot of their own, keyed by a double by Matt Behren that scored two runs and a single by Dave Reynolds that brought home two more for a 6-4 NIU lead.

UWM answered back with four more runs, including a two-run home run by Rob Brockel, in the fourth and regained the lead at 8-6.

The seesaw battle continued as NIU came right back with three runs of its own in the fifth. Jordin Hood's RBI single plated Scott Simon before Danny Reed scored on a Reynolds sacrifice fly to knot the game at eight. Marc Besteman delivered a RBI single that scored Hood and put the Huskies ahead 9-8.

A sixth-inning RBI single by Grant Berkovitz evened the game at nine.

In the top of the seventh, Justin Behm pinch-hit and singled and advanced to third on a well-placed singled down the right field line to put runners at the corners. In the next at-bat, Tim Ryan reached on an error, allowing Anthony Maziur, who was pinch-running for Behm, to score from third and give the Huskies a 10-9 lead.

Matt German came on to toss a perfect seventh for his 10th save of the season. Brett Kellam (2-0) earned the win after relieving starter Adam Holdenrid, who went five innings and allowed four earned runs with three strikeouts. Tim Hoy (0-2) took the loss for UWM (12-26).

Reynolds equaled his career-high with a team-best four RBI in the contest. Behren, who added two RBI of his own, and Danny Reed, who set a career-high with three runs scored, each had two hits.
