DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois second baseman Jordin Hood earned his second Freshman All-America honor in as many weeks after being named to the All Ping! Baseball Freshman Team. The Hawthorn Woods, Ill., native received a third team selection to the inaugural squad selected by pingbaseball.com, a national website devoted to college baseball.
Hood, who was named to Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team as chosen by Collegiate Baseball last week, hit .294 with six home runs, 29 RBI and 11 stolen bases while compiling a .459 slugging percentage during his initial collegiate campaign.
During his freshman season, Hood equaled the NIU single-game record with two triples against Kent State on April 7. He totaled 16 multi-hit games, including three three-hit outings, and collected a trio of three-RBI contests.
