BUFFALO - The Northern Illinois University softball team continued its four-game road swing with a 3-1 victory over MAC East foe Buffalo at Nan Harvey Field Saturday afternoon.

"Morgan pitched great again today," NIU "We had a lot of clutch performances at the plate today with runners in scoring position which is exactly what we're asking the offense to do."

The Huskie (17-35, 11-10) offense scored three runs on five hits, with Zoe Sinner (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) leading the way. NIU's lead-off hitter, Sinner 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Michelle Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard) went 1-for-1 with a RBI, while Katie Colby (Waukesha, Wis./West), who has been swinging a hot bat of late, went 1-for-3 with a RBI, her third in the last two games.

NIU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after scoring a run in each of the second, fifth and sixth innings. Colby's single up the middle scored Ashley Cann (Glenwood, Ill.Marian Catholic) in the second, while Sinners' single in the fifth scored Krystn Sendejas (Galveston, Texas/Ball). Williams' base hit in the sixth scored Jenna Roberts (Verona, Wis./West) from third.

Buffalo (25-26, 7-14) came back with a one out solo home run in the sixth, but that would be all the offense the Bulls could muster. Morgan Bittner (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) turned in another strong outing, allowing one run on four hits. Bittner is 11-18 with a 4.38 earned run average in her first season of collegiate softball.

The Huskies will wrap up their 2009 regular season Sunday when they conclude their two-game set with the University at Buffalo. First pitch set for 12 p.m. CST.
